St Anthony’s Robotics
At St Anthony’s School we foster the development of computational thinking skills and the ability to engage appropriately in personal experiences using digital technology systems. Our Robotics programs seek to give students opportunities to engage in rich and meaningful learning experiences within the classroom settings and co-curricular mixed-age group RoboClubs.
At St Anthony’s we use a range of plugged and unplugged resources to engage students in the Technologies Curriculum. Our equipment includes LEGO Ev3 Mindstorms and WeDo 2.0, MaKay MaKey’s, RoboMice, Swivl and dual platform devices. Our new MakerSpace integrates with our Robotics Program providing a creative space for students to collaborate, explore and engage in participatory learning.
St Anthony’s currently offers multiple RoboClubs. The Year 5 and 6 RoboClub focusing on advanced coding skills in preparation for participating in national robotics competitions, RoboCup Junior and the First Lego League. The Year 3 and 4 RoboClub centred on building foundational coding skills. And finally, our Coding Club for students in Year 1 and 2 meets during lunchtime once a week and supports students in the development of their coding skills through the use of the online platform, Scratch.
